Angie’s Notes
- Use any gravy you’d like, I prefer country gravy as it reminds me most of biscuits and gravy.
- For a less crisp polenta, bake for 5 minutes on each side.
Why I Love This Recipe
Polenta and gravy is a quick, inexpensive and tasty meal you can make anytime! Perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner – and a great alternative for traditional biscuits and gravy.
In addition to being a yummy alternative to biscuits & gravy these polenta rounds don’t require any oil, and are cholesterol free!
Tips For Making Polenta And Gravy
First, I recommend slicing the polenta while the air fryer preheats. This way, immediately after the air fryer is ready to go and you can start the gravy. While using a packaged gravy is very fast, I like to ensure I can give it some attention. I prefer my gravy be smooth, and I find it best to give it my full attention, even if it only takes a few minutes.
My second tip would be to make your own polenta, I have a wonderful Green Chili Polenta recipe you should try! Making your own polenta is fun and you can flavor it how you’d like. I’ve included a few of my favorite add ins for homemade polenta below:
- Basil
- Italian Seasoning
- Pepper
- Butter
A third and final tip for making polenta and gravy would be to brown the polenta less. I prefer my polenta browned, but not overly firm. There are times I like the 20 minutes, and others I prefer 10 minutes total. Experiment with cooking the polenta and find your perfect time!
