Why I Love This Onion Dip

What is not to love about this onion dip?! This recipe takes me back to my childhood. I remember my mom making this dip for “camping” in the backyard. This recipe is super simple with just 2 ingredients, and you don’t even need to dirty a bowl. I personally believe in making this right in the sour cream container, that’s how my mom made it, and that’s how I’ve always made it.

In this weeks post I’ll share how to use this onion dip other than for dipping, and my favorite things to dip!

My Favorite Onion Dip

For this dip, I recommend only using lipton dry onion soup and daisy sour cream. I have tried this dip with the “off brands” and it doesn’t taste as good. Another recommendation would be to use plain ruffles chips, again, not the off brand!

Typically I wouldn’t be so firm on the name brands, but this recipe is really best with the name brands. In addition to using this as a dip, I also love using this as a spread for quasadillas, sandwiches and mixed into salad dressings.

I Dip, You Dip, We Dip

When I’ve made this dip in the past, I’ve noticed a few things go faster at parties than others. Regardless, all of these veggies taste great with the onion dip.

  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Celery
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Ruffles Chips

Other ideas for veggies to dip: snap peas, cucumber or wheat thins.

This two-ingredient onion dip is great for any party! Pair with chips, crackers or fresh veggies. No one will be mad at you for making this dip. Make it today!

How To Serve The Dip

At home, I make & keep the dip in the sour cream container. Ensuring I mix really well after it sits to incorporate the soup into all the sour cream. However, when I take to parties, I put into a bowl, and I use a tray along with other small containers to make my own veggie tray.

  • Angie’s Recommended Party Tray
    • Michales Tray
    • Glass Containers With Lids (don’t have to worry about losing any veggies!)
    • Larger Container For Dip

Having both the dip and chips/veggies on a single tray allows you to easily carry this snack to any party. By using containers with lids you ensure that if you do have an accident or the tray gets tilted, you won’t lose any veggies.

Will you share this onion dip or eat it all yourself? What will you dip?

Yum
