Angie’s Notes
- Try subbing the mango for banana for a more tropical drink
- Omit the skinny protein if you don’t have it on hand
- Add flavored sparkling water instead of plain for a fun twist!
Why I Love This Frozen Green Mocktail
The first thing to remember is that we’re drinking a mocktail, and want it to be delicious – this green mocktail does just that and more!
Along with fresh fruit of mango and avocado, the Your Super Skinny Protein gives this drink a protein kick with 4.6 grams of protein! Can your normal mocktail say that? Probably not.
Inspiration For The Refreshing Green Mocktail
As with all of the drinks in my superfood mocktail series, I found inspiration from Julia Bainbridge’s book – Good Drinks. I personally found some of the recipes to be a bit too cumbersome for me. Ultimately having to make a large amount of syrup or having special glasses, etc. was just too much for me personally.
This refreshing green mocktail was inspired by her Honeydew-Avocado Agua Fresca on page 54 in the book. Another key point is that I didn’t want to feel guilty about my mocktail – I wanted real ingredients and less sugar. Oh, and I also wanted to add in superfoods – shouldn’t be too hard right?
As soon as I received the book, I had fun reading her it and thinking “oh I can sub this for that”. After reading it, I knew I had to share my recipes in a limited series for all my readers!
Making The Green Mocktail Yours
If you’d like to go beyond my recipe, I encourage you to try making this your own! Here are a few suggestions I have for the green mocktail:
- Sub avocado for: banana, silken tofu, cashews (soak first!)
- Replace mango with: peach, apricot, kiwi or cantaloupe
- Lemon, orange or grapefruit can replace the lime
Alongside these suggestions, I’d also highly recommend using fresh juices whenever possible. Fresh juice truly tastes different than the store bought options.
In short, there is no limit to the options for this green mocktail, and I highly encourage you to try to change it for your preference.
