My blog has been live for about 6 months now, and I wanted to make a special post to thank all of my readers! In addition, I wanted to share a little bit about myself. I’m truly thankful you are here!

How Angie Started Gardening

Previously, about 10 years ago, I had a small garden in the backyard. Life got busy, and I stopped gardening. Angie’s Recipe Garden came to life after I started my garden in the spring of 2021. Thanks to a neighbor for asking if anyone was interested in a plot at the community garden, I got a plot and started planning! On day one, I had flip-flops on and ended up taking them off and getting my feet dirty (literally!).

As soon as I had my plot and knew the size, I started thinking about all the things I could grow. I spent the summer learning about new things and applying my new knowledge to my garden. Throughout the summer, I was able to help other gardeners. Whether it was a casual conversation about how/when I water or physically helping someone plant their seedlings – I was happy to help, and you are here to read all about it!

As the end of summer got closer, I was both happy to not have to tend to a garden (hello free time!), and bummed that I wouldn’t be outdoors in the garden anymore.

You Are Here – In The Kitchen

One of my favorite things about going to someone’s house is arriving and saying hi to everyone there. The smile on the person’s face and a warm embrace feel so good. I’ve seen many homes where the door you enter through leads to the kitchen. I’m used to saying “Hi, you are here” when I’m in the kitchen and see someone. My childhood home was set up where the door led directly into the kitchen.

I’ll never forget when I was young, I cut my finger in the kitchen while I made chicken paprikash (paprika chicken). I was cutting an onion, and somehow I managed to cut my finger – I still have the scar, and I now keep Band-Aids in my knife drawer.

Being in the kitchen is something I’ve always enjoyed. Over the years I’ve also tried many diets and “playing” with recipes to make them fit my diet. Over the years, I have developed many recipes and wanted to share them with the world. While you are here, maybe you will find your next favorite recipe on my site!

Equally important to learning more about me, it’s important you know a little more about my blog.

First and foremost, I created the blog because I enjoy cooking and gardening. Secondly, I was sick of recipe sites that either took too long to load, or I had to scroll forever to get to the recipe. The worst blog I came across I had to scroll for a long time, and the ads kept loading and making the page longer! After that, I said, “I’m going to make my own blog!”

In contrast to other recipe blogs, my site is ad-free. Also, all my recipes are at the top of the page, not buried under a life story. I’ve built my blog based on what I want from a blog – a good experience! I want to see the recipe quickly and learn something new. Please consider donating if you like my site.
