Why I Love This Non-Alcoholic Gin Alternative
When I’m watching my calories, the first thing to go is alcohol – and I turn to my non-alcoholic gin alternative. Alcohol has a ton of wasted calories, and it’s pretty easy to remove from my diet. That said, I do enjoy the taste of a good gin, and I wanted to be able to enjoy a cocktail at night. Water is plain and boring, and I already drink a gallon a day so, at night, the last thing I want is more water.
This gin, while not clear, tastes like regular gin! I made a mocktail using my gin and a regular gin and when tasting blind I could not tell the difference. Creating a shrub-inspired mocktail that tasted great and based on looks alone looked the same as a regular cocktail!

How To Use Non-Alcoholic Gin Alternative
The first thing you will notice is that this gin alternative is a different color than the gin you buy at the store. This gin is essentially a steeped tea and is not distilled to make it clear. My gin is a brown color that reminds me of a strong cup of tea.
Use non-alcoholic gin as you would regular gin. Note the color may differ as this is brown, and not clear. I love gin on the rocks, so I frequently add ice to a glass, pour my non-alcoholic gin over and enjoy!
Another recommendation would be to add this gin to any of the mocktails on my blog – I even have a mocktail that uses my gin!
Other Add-Ins You Could Use
If you have a favorite gin, I recommend researching how it’s made. What botanicals do they use? Are there flavors you love – include those in your gin!
Here’s a small list of things I’d love to try to add to future batches:
- Orange Peel
- Nutmeg
- Almonds
- Cinnamon
- Grapefruit Peel
- Ginger
- Cranberries
Have you tried to make your own non-alcoholic gin alternative? What are your favorite flavors to include in your gin? Can’t wait to see how you make non alcoholic gin your own!
