Angie’s Notes

Why I Love This Simple Cherry Mocktail

After a long day in the garden, I want something refreshing like this simple cherry mocktail. With just 6 ingredients and no processed sugar, it’s hard to believe how great it tastes! My favorite part of this drink is the spicy ginger from the Golden Mellow. You can leave out the Golden Mellow if you find it too spicy, or sub for fresh ginger instead!

Fresh cherries can be juiced to make a simple cherry mocktail.

Inspiration For The Simply Cherry Mocktail

As with all mocktails in my Superfood Mocktail Series, the inspiration comes from Julia Bainbridge’s book Good Drinks. I highly recommend the book if you are looking for mocktails. Not to mention, some of the drinks look really amazing!

Of course, I wanted to make the drinks my own. Having a few key “guidelines” for myself was important. The drinks needed to be easy – only using a blender to create, no processed sugar, and as many fresh ingredients as possible. Furthermore, I wanted to include superfoods!

Even though the book is excellent, many recipes needed a syrup of some kind. Some syrups made enough for 6 drinks – which was just too many for me. When I have a drink, I prefer variety I don’t want to drink the same thing all week.

Substitutes For The Cherry Mocktail

In the event that you don’t have an ingredient on hand, here are some suggestions!

  • Sub plant collagen for vanilla powder – be sure to start with a small amount and add in as needed
  • Fresh ginger can be used in place of golden mellow
  • Don’t have cherry juice? Make it a blueberry mocktail by using blueberry juice!
  • Prefer to use fruit? Use fresh or frozen cherries instead of the juice
  • Looking for less spice? Swap the ginger beer for sparkling water
  • Coconut cream can be omitted entirely, or replaced with milk of choice or heavy cream

I truly hope that you are enjoying my mocktail series. How will you make this mocktail your own? Let me know in the comments below.
