Instructions

Prepare Butter

  • First, you'll want to place your 1½ sticks of butter in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, use the box grater and grate 1 stick of butter.
    1½ Sticks Butter

Make Biscuits

  • Preheat oven to 425° and place cast iron skillet in oven.
  • Mix flour and butter together in a large mixing bowl.
    4 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • Add milk to flour and butter and mix until combined. If it's too dry, add milk, if it's too sticky, add flour.
    2 Cups Non Dairy Milk
  • Generously flour your working surface and roll out the dough to about 3/4" thick.
  • Fold the dough in half, then gently roll out. Repeat this process at least 4-5 times for more layers!
  • When satisfied with layers, gently roll out to about 1" thick and cut into even shapes.
  • Remove cast iron skillet from oven and place 2 tablespoon of butter into the pan. Allow to melt and coat the skillet.
  • Place cut biscuts in skillet, the closer the better. Chop 1 tablespoon of butter and place on top of the biscuts.

Bake

  • Bake 15-20 minutes, until the tops are golden brown. Enjoy with gravy, jam, peanut butter, or as a substitute for bread!

Angie’s Notes

  • Spice things up by adding pepper or curry powder!
  • Make sure your milk of choice is unflavored unless you want a flavored biscuit.
  • Create a savory biscuit by adding sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and vanilla-flavored milk – a perfect substitute for cinnamon raisin bread.
