Announcing A Two Part Series On Sprouts And Microgreens
Sprouts and microgreens – what’s the difference? I’m sure you’ve seen sprouts at the grocery store and maybe you’ve seen microgreens at a farmers market. You may have seen the prices and decided not to purchase.
This week I’m announcing a two part series about the difference between sprouts and microgreens. Over the next two weeks, I’ll cover differences, similarities as well as how easy these are to grow yourself!
My hope is that by the end of the series you will be able to decide if you’d like to try growing sprouts or microgreens.
What To Expect In The Series
Have you ever considered growing sprouts or microgreens? Thought it would be too hard or didn’t know where to begin? This series will be for you! Each post will go in depth for how to grow, as well as growing time. Furthermore, you will have all the information you need to decide which one (or both!) you’d like to grow.
Although the posts aren’t coming out for another week or 2, I want to provide a few tips in this post so you will be ready to grow. Above all, both sprouts and microgreens are very easy to grow, but here’s a few things you may need to get started if you don’t want to spend much money:
- Sprouts
- Large jar – something the size of a pickle jar
- A way to drain the jar but keep the sprouts inside – something like a bandana or cheesecloth should work
- Sprout seeds – search on Amazon and find a variety you like
- Sunny windowsill
- Microgreens
- Container you can put a few inches of dirt in made of something that is OK getting wet
- Small bag of dirt (or dig some out of your yard)
- Microgreen seeds – search on Amazon and find a variety you like
- Sunny windowsill
Above all, it’s important to grow what you like. When choosing your sprouts or microgreen seeds, read what types of sprouts or microgreens are listed. Chances are if you enjoy the full grown version of what’s listed, you will enjoy the sprout or microgreen version!
While you wait for the first post next week, check out my previous series on the blog. I’ve covered topics from edible flowers, growing your own tea, and more!
