Why I Love This Berry Flavored Balsamic Dressing
Berry flavored balsamic dressing is one of my favorite recipes! In addition to the slight tang, it pairs so well with mixed greens. I’ve used this dressing multiple times on red lettuce, arugula and even dandelion greens. Using a dressing like this helps balance out the bitterness of those greens.
Moreover, it’s so simple to make and pretty inexpensive when compared to buying online. With just 4 ingredients and about 10 minutes of “work time” in the kitchen, you can have a delicious dressing.
Uses For Berry Balsamic Dressing
My favorite use for berry balsamic dressing is a salad, I’ve included a recipe below:
- 2 cups mixed greens – I prefer a spinach, arugula and kale blend
- 1/4 chicken breast (or other protein of choice – chick peas are really good!)
- 1-2 tablespoons dried fruits – blueberries, cherries or raisins do great
- 1-2 tablespoons of seeds – I like pumpkin or sunflower
For my salads, I prefer to chop my greens first – I place my greens in a bowl and use kitchen scissors to chop the greens. Then I add all of my toppings (I chop any meat first), and chop again. Finally I add my dressing, I use 1 tablespoon of dressing, and then gently toss to cover the greens. The salad is refreshing and oh so good.
Substitutions In The Recipe
If you need to substitute something in the recipe, here are some options:
- Mixed berries – sub for any berry you’d like, can be fresh or frozen, try cherries too!
- Maple syrup – honey or agave can be subbed, I would add in 1 teaspoon, then taste to ensure it isn’t too sweet
